Letter from the Editors

A letter where we…
Kiss 2020 goodbye and want to thank it for nothing,
but actually we have it thank it for some stuff, we guess.

Dear readers,

Oh what a year it has been. We can ramble on about the pandemic, the lockdowns, the seemingly never ending fear, stress, and fatigue we have all experienced; instead we want to point out some of the good things that have happened for the Silver Apples community throughout this shit show of a year.

First, we have all our content for free now. This means more people are reading our artists than ever before and that brings us great joy. We have also received more submissions than ever before. It made our job of picking just a few pieces for this issue harder than ever, but too many submissions is not something you’ll ever hear us complaining about.

We lost our own way when it came to our own writing, but we found our way back to it, to each other, and to a whole new circle of people. Our No C.U.N.T. writing community boasts 15 regular members who came to write together and encourage each other at a time when creativity was hard to tap into. We are delighted that our group is eager to continue into 2021 and are open to new members always.

Like everyone else, we are excited to see the back of 2020, nervous at what 2021 will bring, excited by its possibilities and scared of its unknowns. Whatever lies ahead of us, we are delighted to have the Silver Apples community along with us for the ride.

Thank you for your continued support of us and our artists, and now, time to dig into the stories and poems that have brought Silver Apples’ Issue 15: Sharp Edges to life.

Yours,

Alex, Gráinne, and Melissa
